Held at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, in collaboration with the Sydney Con Jazz Festival, The Sydney Schools’ Jazz Festival is a one day event offering student groups the chance to perform in a world-class venue, and receive a clinic and appraisal with our faculty of Australia’s finest Jazz Educators.

All performances are HD recorded, with overdubbed commentary from the adjudicators so musicians and directors can take their bands to the next level

The Sydney Schools Jazz Festival is nested within a fully fledged Jazz Festival so students can easily take the opportunity to hear some of Australia’s leading jazz musicians outside of their performance window

Guaranteed full house. The Sydney Schools Jazz Festival is unique in that performance times are in blocks, with the next performer announced from the stage…this means all bands will be enjoyed by a full house of peers and parents in a world-class venue

Enjoy hearing the National Youth Big Band during the Big Band Festival intermission with a special show for participants only. Also Festival participants get exclusive to an open rehearsal on the Saturday with grammy award winning US Big Band composer Remy Le Boeuf
an exclusive concert for Sydney Schools’ Jazz Festival participants
Festival participants have exclusive access to a concert on June 2 featuring the National Youth Big Band plus access to an open rehearsal with the band on Saturday June 1.
The ANJO Youth Big Band is blindfold auditioned nationally and brings together the leading young musicians between 18 & 25 from every state in Australia to rehearse in Sydney for a week before performances at the Sydney Con Jazz Festival and Perth Jazz Festival in November.

$300 secures your ensembles spot at the Sydney Schools’ Jazz Festival. This entry fee covers the cost of venue hire, festival administration, recordings & clinicians fees
$20 audience tickets to the Schools Jazz Festival concerts will be available to pre-purchased via the Sydney Con Jazz Festival Box Office from Mid-April
