  • Roger Frampton 'Comes Alive!'

    A heartfelt documentary about one of Australia’s most creative and gifted musicians as seen through the eyes of his daughter Emily Rytmeister and a cast of long time collaborators and admirers such as James Morrison, Dale Barlow, Sandy Evans, Kevin Hunt, Steve Elphick, Bruce Johnson, . Submitted as part of her Doctoral Thesis at the University of Western Sydney, this touching work touches on the greatness of Roger the musician but also the complexity of a musicians life and the effect a genius can have on those around them.

  • Bill Frisell - a portrait

    A character portrait of ‘musicians’ musician and anti-archetypal guitar hero (and 2019 Festival artist!) Bill Frisell. This film, made by Australian documentary maker Emma Franz, traces the development of Frisell’s music and provides rare insight into the shaping of one of the significant musicians of recent decades. Full of live music and following various projects from development to fruition, this film features a variety of collaborators, including Paul Motian, Jim Hall, Hal Willner, Joey Baron, Jason Moran, Nels Cline, Mike Gibbs, Jack DeJohnette, John Zorn, John Abercrombie, Paul Simon, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Jim Woodring, Greg Cohen, Tony Scherr and others.

    Highly respected Australian musician, Simon Barker’s search for an elusive South Korean shaman becomes a rite of passage, as he encounters engaging and exotic characters and conquers cultural obstacles and the march of time, to eventually meet the master only days before his death.
