  • Deep groove & swing — a driving rhythmic feel rooted in the classic Hammond organ trio tradition, with bass lines played on the pedals and left hand locking in with drums.

Explosive improvisation — high-energy solos from organ, guitar and drums, with spontaneous interplay and dynamic build-ups.

Rich Hammond textures — the unmistakable warmth of the Hammond organ, from soulful, church-like chords to gritty, overdriven tones.

Tight ensemble chemistry — a highly interactive band sound where musicians constantly respond to each other, creating a live, unpredictable musical conversation.

  • Darren Heinrich is an Australian jazz organist, pianist and composer known for his deep connection to the Hammond organ tradition and his dynamic presence within the contemporary jazz scene. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Heinrich has built a reputation as a versatile and highly musical performer, equally at home in groove-based settings, straight-ahead jazz, and more exploratory contexts.

Drawing on the lineage of classic Hammond players while bringing a distinctly modern sensibility, Heinrich’s playing is characterised by rich harmonic language, rhythmic drive, and an intuitive sense of interaction. He has performed extensively across Australia and internationally, collaborating with leading jazz artists and appearing at major festivals and venues.

As both a bandleader and sideman, Heinrich has contributed to a wide range of projects, from organ trios to large ensemble works, consistently demonstrating a commitment to creative improvisation and ensemble interplay. His work reflects a deep respect for the jazz tradition alongside a forward-looking approach to composition and performance
