  • Expressive, melodic contemporary jazz - modern grooves and lyrical songwriting.

A captivating blend of voice and bass-led storytelling, weaving poetic lyrics with open adventurous improvisation.

An expansive sound world with deep, rhythmic interplay, delicate textures and layered ensemble colours.

A dynamic emotional journey moving from playful and radiant to intimate, spacious and deeply reflective.

  • Lauren White is a Sydney-based bassist, vocalist, composer and bandleader working at the forefront of the contemporary jazz scene. Her music bridges modern jazz with older traditions, weaving together Brazilian influences, songwriting, poetry and improvisation into a sound that is grounded, expressive and emotionally resonant.

As both an instrumentalist and vocalist, her work moves fluidly between song-based forms and open exploratory improvisation. Her compositions are grounded in storytelling, drawing inspiration from landscape, art, poetry, and inner emotional worlds.

An active collaborator and international touring artist, Lauren has performed at major venues and festivals including the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Jazz Festival, and has contributed to projects spanning film, television and theatre.

Her upcoming debut album Opened Ground, supported by the Ken Weatherley Jazz Scholarship, marks her first major artistic statement as a composer and bandleader.

  • “A warm, rounded voice, and… cruising bass.” - John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
